..I was feeling sick and was resting in a small house before heading out on assignment... I was alone, about to fall asleep when I heard a quiet voice whispering in Bengali. I didn't move, just opened my eyes. Above my head I saw a tiny little hand reaching from a window, trying to touch my face. I sat up and looked outside for my visitor.

A little boy, apparently disabled, was looking at me with half of his face hidden behind the window frame. He was smiling shyly.

I couldn't speak to him so I reached my hand towards him. He stepped closer and without hesitation held my hands with both of his. He touched my nails and kept exploring my fingers as if they were special objects.

His hands were warm, burned by the sun, they felt like pieces of feather in my palms.

They wanted some photos, not knowing, I guess, what they were up for asking me this favor in the winter time.. Headed to the Light House at Point Reyes on Sunday afternoon.. It was after opening hours by the time we arrived, however there is always a fence low enough ready to be jumped over. Hidden in fog, this place had amazing mysterious feel to it. The air was cold and salty and wind kept messing up my hair. By the time we were about to leave, suddenly, the sky cleared and the fog disappeared. It was sunset time and about the end of another perfect day..

From Bahamas to Prague

It was about midnight on Sunday night when I was going back to an apartment I was staying in that night in Prague. Snow was falling tirelessly since the day before so walking from the bus stop to the apartment building area in my high heels was quite an adventure on its own. As I walked along in the empty silent streets, I noticed a guy. I got scared at first, as I haven't seen or hear him to walk behind me. We started to talk, in English - right away, both anticipating a foreigner in the other.

The walk was quite long and I became suspicious about the same path we were both making through the snow. I haven’t questioned it but 10minuts later; when we actually ended up in front of the same door of the same building I did feel uncomfortable. By that time, however, we left English entirely behind and spoke fully in Czech with some added phrases in Spanish.

Inspired by this man from Bahamas fluent in Czech, shivering in a snowstorm in the middle of a night in Prague, I took some photos of Gustavo.

After we said: 'Nice to meet you!', 'Mucho gusto!' and 'Rada jsem Te poznala.' we both entered the same apartment building. When we entered the same elevator and got of at the same floor, it was getting weird.. After some awkward smiles and thoughts (who is following who?) we learned that our apartments were actually right next to each other. In this area with hundreds of apartments, yes, we were neighbors, after all..

We saw each other’s keys then and left the “stocking” idea behind. We both became exited about this coincident, waved to each other from our balconies and talked our life stories over bottle of wine till even later time of a night.

Reality won fantasy over that night and as the snow kept falling, the world felt so small and so cozy.

Grand Basset Griffon Vendeén

Covered with mud, I had a great time yesterday shooting nine litlle puppies as they palyed along in what looks like remainds of grass and water paddles (still no snow around here, damn it!) They were born in November to mom Aneschka and dad Droupy (you can see them both in my earlier blogs).
They are breed of Grand Basset Griffon Vendeén and belong to breeding station "Od Veselý Anežky," based in the south of Czech Republic. The station was started by Alena Veselá several years ago. (www.volny.cz/aneschka/)

This morning I heard dog-like barking behind my window - very uncommon sound in my neighborhood.. I looked outsite and to my big surpirse this squirrel was standing there, staring right at me. I kept looking at her waiting for her to run away but she didn't move an inch. . While barking out there even lauder I ran to grab my camera and snap few shots.. She ran away shortly after.. However, after I called her (I spoke czech to her) surprisingly she came right back to finish up our portrait session.. This whole experience was so lovely, it made my day.. really..
